Pastor and author Kevin DeYoung counsels Christians to settle down, make choices, and do the hard work of seeing those choices through. Too often, he writes, God’s people tinker around with churches, jobs, and relationships, worrying that they haven’t found God’s perfect will for their lives. But God doesn’t need to tell us what to do at each fork in the road. He’s already revealed His plan for our lives.
This book, Just Do Something was a very interesting book and gives you something to really think about regarding doing God’s Will. This book really focuses on the facts of what God has revealed in the Scriptures so we can best discern wisely what he wants from us. He makes a good case that God never intends for us to know “specifically” what he wants us to do, where he wants us to live, or who to marry among other questions we ask. The author of this book states, “Live for God. Obey the Scriptures. Think of others before yourself. Be holy. Love Jesus.
His point is really clear that in scripture can point us to the truths that will help us live within the sphere of God’s Will. We don’t have to wait for a giant sign in the sky to go ahead and apply for a job or declare a major in college.
