I have been a customer of the well-known Christian Retailer, Family Christian Stores. I received an email yesterday that states this organization has made the commitment to serve God, whether it is through their retail store or of their other ministry initiatives.
They have had two very difficult years with their business. Suppliers forgave Family Christian Stores $127 million in debt so they could remain open. Their chain has been stated as “the world’s largest retailer of Christian-themed merchandise” has announced they are closing all of its 240 stores after 85 years of business.
They have had some challenges and setbacks which has helped them make this decision. The retail landscape is changing despite some of their improvements with their product. The problem has been that they have not been able to generate the sales necessary to sustain their business.
They have fought hard with their stores because they deeply believe in the mission to help people find, grow, share and celebrate their faith in Jesus Christ.
This closing will have a big effect on many communities which have relied on these stores in their local area for their Christian products, which includes such items as: greeting cards, books, bibles, or other miscellaneous items.
I do not know where I am going to purchase my christian needs from now on, but you could try some online stores that may have the items you need.
