Do you struggle to make ends meet? Did you start a blog as a passion for writing? Did you decide to turn it into a business to create extra income? The time it takes to work your regular away from home job and spending time on your blog can be overwhelming at times in addition to other mom duties like fixing dinner, laundry, cleaning the house, and taking kids to their extra curricular activities. When does all this allow you to have down time and to work on your blog plus to spend some time with God.
How you spend your time is really important? Have you thought of wanting to start a blog and owning your own personal business? I, blog as well as work at a school which I do have a little more time off as some other jobs, but it still makes it crazy sometimes to fit everything in my schedule. I have two teenagers – ages almost 17 and 14 – and work 28 hours per week at school. I only work 4 days per week, but usually spend my day off most of the time doing financial obligations/ bills every other week. There still is not much me time involved here! I’m also a part-time blogger, which I truly love. If you want to manage your obligations you will find the time for what is most important in your life.
This is what my life’s priorities consist of in my season of life. They are my family, my 28 hour job, my part-time job, taking kids to their sporting activities and attending there games or meets, plus trying to have some me time here and there.
Decide what is most important
If you would like to have more time, you need to prioritize what is most important to you and focus on those things. Maybe, cut down your social media personally and just concentrate on this just for your blogging. Create more quick type meals, which is very important to me right now as my daughter is on the swim team and they practice most days from 5:30 to 7:00 pm, which makes dinner fairly late. Moms quit trying to do it all because it is entirely impossible without running yourselves ragged.
Schedule Your Get Up Time and Your Bedtime
Deciding on this is very important to your health. You have to decide how much sleep you require. Some people are more of a night owl than a early riser. Even though I work outside the home as well, I do better by staying up later than getting up earlier. So, I get up at 6:45 am and go to bed between 10:30-11:30 pm depending what I am doing or working on. My main priorities I do at night is either do my blogging, read my books because I love to read, read my bible and also will listen to Periscope or You Tube with my earphones on.
Set A Timer for your Tasks
Some tasks are so enjoyable you could work on them for hours, but then you would not get anything else done. As moms, we still have to do mom jobs. So, the best thing to do on particular tasks is to set your timer. For Blogger tasks, give myself an hour to create a post, or going through my older posts and redoing photos or updating the content of the post. You can also set a timer for doing your laundry, cleaning your kitchen, or doing any kind of organizing. This is not something I have been real good at, but I plan to implement this a little bit better for this year 2016.
Create Your To-Do List the night before
Your To-Do List are very important! For one, moms lives are overwhelming at times if we do not write them down we may forget what is really important to get done. Maybe, cut down to 3 To-Do items for each task you need to accomplish. Blogging Tasks would be to create a blog post, interact and share on my Facebook Page, and go through old posts and photos to make better. Then, for your housecleaning tasks, do laundry, put away dishes and maybe organize something small. Then, you could create some mom alone time by reading a book, watching a movie, and spending time with God.
Decide on one full day off per week
Everyone needs one full day off per week to relax and do something you enjoy. If you have trouble relaxing, it maybe you are doing too much. I love my job and blogging which is a huge passion of mine, but I have to decide a day to rest from all those tasks. Moms do need to manage our time well so we are well rested. If you have problems managing your time well, you should check out Crystal Paine’s ecourse, Money Saving Mom’s Make Over Your Mornings.
Working, raising a family and blogging can be so stressful at times, but I’m pursuing my passion and it allows me to unwind or vent on some days. My goal is create a blogging income to help people and to be financially free when it is time to retire from working and to also bring my husband home as well.
Please Comment if you have any thoughts on this subject of working and blogging at the same time? I would love to read what you have to say!
